Dr. (Prof.) Amit Varma is a renowned clinician and Diabetologist of International repute. He is presently working as Professor and Head, Department of Medicine at the prestigious SGRR Institute of Medical and Health Sciences, Dehradun (India). Previously, he was Professor and Head, Department of Medicine at Himalayan Institute of Medical and Health Sciences, Dehradun (Uttarakhand), India. He has been a practicing Diabetologist for nearly twenty years and conducts Diabetes Clinic.

Besides being an outstanding clinician, he has been a renowned and popular medical teacher and has supervised many undergraduate and postgraduate medical students.

He is the founder President of UDAAN Foundation, an organization committed to the medical welfare of the underprivileged.

Dr.(Prof.) Varma is also the founder President of South East Asia Diabetes Foundation which is committed to the cause of Diabetic in this region. This foundation is the forum where the diabetologists, endocrinologists and Physicians in this region come together and contribute to the cause of Diabetes in this region, exchange of skills and knowledge, exchange of expertise, academic upliftment of the medical fraternity and contribute to the care of less privileged in the region.

He is the Founder and  Editor-in Chief of the Journal of South East Asian Medical Clinics.

Dr.Varma authored a book “Anxiety-a journey from Upanishads” which was inaugurated at the International Book fair by the Chief Minister of Delhi Mrs. Sheila Dixit and Home Minister Shri. L.K.Advani. He has more than 150 publications in various International and National journals.

He is the Principal Investigator of many projects funded by various agencies.

Dr. Varma did his MBBS and MD (General Medicine) from Jawahar Lal Nehru Medical College, AMU, Aligarh (U.P.).

His vision is to spread love through benevolent practices which include free medical examination and care programs, the Referral Center which establishes a network with the local and international doctors, a special medical cost support program for patients who cannot afford treatment due to financial difficulties, employee volunteer activities that assist our privileged neighbours, free health lectures that provide accurate medical information and introduce the latest treatment methods, and medical volunteer activities in foreign countries where medical treatment and care are desperately needed.
